Importance of exercise

We are two months into the new year. What fitness goals have you set? Everyone should exercise by doing something, swimming, walking, hiking, biking, running, what you do is not as important as doing something. Just read a report about what an unfit nation we are: couch potato nation

If you don’t exercise plan on being zombie food. “Zombieland” sums it up very nicely: the fattys went first, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve4UI10P-z8

Do not let this happen to you. Commit to so something now! Exercise is good for your physical and mental health. I enjoy running and after a good run I feel mentally refreshed and ready for the rest of the day (I run at work during work, yes we have showers 🙂 ) Where ever you are, what ever your age, start doing something today.

Words of advice:
1) Do not start out too hard. I am encouraging people at work to start running, but to start with only a half mile. You should do cardio for thirty minutes, but you can start by walking most of that time. Your muscles and ligaments need time to get in shape. If you start by doing too much you will be in so much pain you’ll quit. Start slow and work up.
2) Find an exercise buddy, someone who is willing to do it with you. Exercising is so much easier when you have a partner. This person(s) can encourage you to go each day and it is a lot less boring when you have a friend to talk do while exercising.
3) Make goals and track your daily progress. Doing this allows you to see your progress over time. Progress helps you to stay motivated. I track my runs once a week to see if I am getting any faster.
