The disaster kit is a bag of preparedness stuff that you can grab in a hurry. It should have all the items you need to survive for 72 hours on your own and the information required to deal with a disasters aftermath. This disaster kit is also known as a 72 hour kit or Zombie bag. This should be stored in a backpack to make it easier to carry. Plan on only having a few moments evacuation notice, you should be able to grab your disaster kit and hit the road in moments – and have all the things you need to survive for at least 3 days. It should include important items such as the following:
- Copy of your disaster plan
- Copies of your home, car, and health insurance information.
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- First aid supplies
- Prescription medicines
- Extra hearing aids, glasses, contacts, etc.
- Spare set of house keys
- Water.
- Food
- Emergency Cash
- Alternative power
